A unique rule that allows you to move a stack of face-up cards from anywhere. Arrange the cards from King (K) to Ace (A) by suit to clear the game!
- On the tableau, create four sets of 13 cards each, arranged in descending order from King to Ace by suit.
- At the start of the game, seven columns of seven cards each are dealt. In the first four columns, three of the seven cards are face-down, while all other columns have all cards face-up.
- Any face-up card can be moved, even from the middle of a column.
- All covering cards above the moved card are moved together.
- A moved card must be placed on another card of the same suit and one rank higher.
- For example, a 7 of Hearts can be placed on an 8 of Hearts.
- When 13 cards of the same suit are arranged in order, they are removed from the tableau and moved to the edge of the screen.
- Only a single King or a stack with a King at the bottom can be moved into an empty column.
- Kings can only be moved into empty columns.
- No cards can be placed on top of an Ace.
- Click (or tap) to deal one card to each of the first three tableau columns.
- Using a Joker allows you to forcibly move a necessary card (but decreases your score).
- Click the Hint button to highlight movable cards (but decreases your score).
- Click the Undo button to revert to the previous state (but decreases your score).
Scorpion Solitaire Q&A
QWhich Solitaire games are similar to Scorpion?
A Scorpion is similar to "Wasp," "Spider," "Simple Simon," and "Mrs. Mop."
It is especially similar to Wasp, with the only difference being that non-King cards can also be moved to empty columns. The differences between each game are summarized in the table below.
Game | Deck | Columns | Stack Movement | Empty Columns | Stock |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Spider | 2 | 10 | Same suit | No restrictions | Yes |
Scorpion | 1 | 7 | No restrictions | King only | Yes |
Wasp | 1 | 7 | No restrictions | No restrictions | Yes |
Simple Simon | 1 | 10 | Same suit | No restrictions | No |
Mrs. Mop | 2 | 13 | Same suit | No restrictions | No |
QWhich is harder, Scorpion or Wasp?
AScorpion is harder because only Kings can be moved to empty columns, while in Wasp, any card can be moved.
QWhat are some strategies for winning Scorpion?
AHere are some key strategies:
- Avoid getting Aces stuck
Since you cannot place any card on an Ace, if an Ace is exposed too early, it can block moves. - Make Kings easier to move
Kings can only be moved to empty columns, so plan ahead to clear a column. - Avoid unnecessary moves
Moving cards randomly can make it harder to organize the tableau. - Prioritize revealing face-down cards
Clearing face-down cards early, especially in the first four columns, increases move options.
QCan Scorpion always be won?
ANo. Some starting layouts make it impossible to win. The estimated win rate is around 5%. However, using the game's "Joker" feature can significantly increase the chances of winning.
QHow long does a game of Scorpion take?
AIt depends on the player's skill, but a typical game lasts between 5 and 10 minutes.
